Aflatoon Alu Matar, Tales Of Polish Wedding & The Oval

Again, the week ended with a nice, cool & lazy Sunday. In my opinion, if Sunday isn't lazy then it's not Sunday.

Well, the week started out quietly on professional front and as usual got heated up twoards the end of the week. But, on personal front, Monday started with alfatoon Alu Matar in the Dinner. I had made the curry of Alu Matar for Dinner on Monday and it came out really good. We had rotis, parathas, Alu Matar & Papads.

On Wednesday, one of my senior from client side came back from a short vacation to poland. He went to Poland for soem marriage and i heard the tales of polish wedding form him on Wednesday Morning over a cup of coffee with him. In the Polish wedding that he attended, the ceremony last for 3 days. They were being picked up from their hotel by their host and travelled to the church on horse carts. upon reaching there, they got a reception with lots of music going on and they were provided with Vodkas to drink. Then, at 3pm, food was served at buffet and vodkas were served. now, form then onwards, at every two hours, food and dirnks repeated till 5-6 am the next morning and all were dancing their hearts out during those two hours interval between food/drink serves. This ceremony continued for 3 days consequetively. I must say that was the kind of event i would like to attend one day!!

The week which started with alu Matar ended with Bhel Puri on friday evening. I love any form of chaats and would love to make Bhelp Puri, Sev Puri etc. myself whenever i get a chance.

Now, the next saturday morning was something special for me. I was going to the Ocal Cricket Ground to watch the test match. Well, since my childhood days, i have fond memories of stayign awale late in the night to watch australia beating westindies in 1994-95, wakign up early to see australia trouncing england in ashes of 1994-95, Bunking colelges to watch India's miracle win against australia in 2001, or adjusting office schedule to see greatest test series of my time in ashes 2005. After being an ardent fan of Test Cricket for so long, finally, i was watching a test match cricket on some abroad ground and i must tell you it was very very satisfactory. In last few years, i haven't done anything that has given me so much satisfaction to be honest so that was really really soemthing special.

Leaderhip thoughts, Rains, Cakes & I-Day

As usual, this week has also passed in no time. Just did some walking, excercises, running in the park nearby my house and then had breakfast. Now, logged onto internet to write the week that has just passed by...

In initial days of the last week, from my recent work experience at my work place, i was just wondering about what leadership is all about and how a leader affects every individual in his/her team. So, collected some random thoughts about it. I was just worrying about the thought that what if you leader is leading by wrong example or he/she is leading with example that doesn't considered to be good by majority (90% of the people) of the people but he/she still need to follow it as he/she doesn't have any choice then what should be done for this? If it affects people in his/her team then those people are not going to stay silent and if they can't be explicitly vocal then they take actions through which you can infer their dissatisfaction towards the leadership.

Last entire week was very wet from climate perspective. It rained very heavily here at Ipswich, UK and because normally it doesn't rains this much in eastern part of UK, it was really strange. On friday, we were in foodcourt for lunch and was required to wait around 15-20 minutes for rain to stop and then to go back to our office building. May be, effects of Global Warming!!!

On this Friday, there was a cake cutting celebration from our department as it is celebrating the milestone of reaching headcount of 5,000. I'm not sure why they are celebrating such things because i don't know how higher headcount is going to help our department. I hope atleast higher management is aware and have good idea about what they are going to do with this increased headcount. So, little weired to me but no questions as far as celebraitons are concerned...and, we have been told that this is just a begining of celebrations and more celebrations will follow in next weeks...Let's See...

And, last but not the least, today is the Independence Day of India. Every indian is proud for it and the kind of sentiments/opinions people are showing over the medium of internet, mails, social networking sites etc is really a nice thing to watch. I think this is one certain positive effect of internet. It is helping tremendously in spreading the message across so i hope people will start acting towards real freedom of india, which is still far away, rather than just spreading a word about it.

Logging off for this week...Write soon next Sunday...

Leeds, Amsterdam Plans & Bollywood...

My last week went very quickly, as it has been happening from last few months now.
On a professional front, i did learn few things about having an exposure with client, how to present yourself, the value of time, and how to fulfill the expectation of your senior. I visited Leeds Office for some interaction with operations people who are using our software. This was first of a kind for me so i wasn't sure how it will go. however, thankfully, it went very good and the presentation i made afterwards got good views from my seniors. Still, it's just the begining of this excercise and i have a long way to go. Next week would be a next step in this regard and i am keeping my fingres crossed in this regard.
On Personal level, nothing great had happened during the weekdays. Got to know new city of leeds and got a good first impression of the city.
On Friday, booked the tickets and accommodation at amsterdam. I am planning to go there on last weekend of august. Still need to decide how to spend 3 days over there so should be intercting with people about it and also will surf the net to find out more details.
On Weekend, saw two movies: 1 of them was ok and another one was too good. Let me talk about the good one only. Once Upon a time in Mumbai is one of very stylish & well-dircted movies. I am very much impressed with the diakogues of the movie. All 3 to 4 main characters in the movie are having superb dialogues and they indeed have done good job in delivering them with utmost suitable mannerisms.
Did talk with mummy, sis on sunday via gtalk.
So, that is it for this week. Looking forward to next week.
